Owner Zakaria Al Mokdad is from Bosra, Syria. He and his family arrived in Canada as refugees in 2016.Back home, he had been a successful restaurateur with two, thriving restaurants. Both places were bombed during the war, as was the family home. The entire Al Mokdad clan of 8 fled to Jordan with nothing, and ultimately, was sponsored by a group of Canadians. The Mokdads are now proud to call Canada home.One thing Zakaria did not lose was his dream to open a new restaurant here. And, in 2019, that dream came true.Since its inauguration, Aleppo Kebab has been called One of the best Syrian restaurants in Toronto by BlogTO, and featured in both the Toronto Star and NOW Magazine.
